It’s been a busy week at Smart Garage Solutions HQ with a number of exciting developments taking place.

On Monday, we announced the launch of our ‘My Sales Trust’ product, which allows independent car dealers across the UK to show off the key features and condition of a vehicle, extend their geographical reach and drive more customers to the forecourt.  Interest in the product has been high and we’re looking forward to getting out and speaking to dealers over the coming weeks and months.  Anyone interested in the product can sign up to our FREE 30-day no-obligation trial today.

On Wednesday, we were featured on, one of the fastest growing business media platforms in the UK, as the focus for their Yorkshire Startup Spotlight feature.  Our founder, Ben Smith, was interviewed by Yorkshire Deputy Editor, Clare Burnett, about his inspiration for setting up the business and how he felt independent dealers and garages can benefit from our innovative solutions.  The news site generates more than 1m page views every month, providing us with some great exposure and a number of potential leads over the last few days.  You can read the full interview here.

Following a successful application process, we were honoured to have been shortlisted by Tech North to compete in their Northern Stars regional final which took place in Sheffield on Thursday evening.  Tech North exist to help accelerate the growth of digital businesses in the North of England through championing the sector and connecting networks.  As part of this commitment they run an annual pitch competition which sets out to discover the most promising early-stage tech companies in the North of England.

Northern Stars, works through an online application process, supported by a series of Regional Pitch events, culminating in a Grand Final where 10 winning companies are chosen by a high profile panel of judges, made up of key sponsors from equity crowdfunding platform Seedrs, UK Top 100 law firm Ward Hadaway and leading recruitment specialist Evolution.

We were one of 11 startup businesses pitching on the evening with competition across a diverse number of sectors including; home décor and furnishings, music streaming, education and e-learning, mobile networking, smart homes, online radio stations, tutoring, online shopping and preserving family memories.

Each business was given just three minutes to pitch to an audience of investors and other interested parties, telling the story of their business together with the size of the target market and opportunity, financial projections and the level of traction gained to date.  Presentations also included a two minute Q&A with the panel of judges.  Two winners were the announced on the evening; one voted by the audience, with Lumici Slate taking the majority of votes and an overall winner decided by the judges, with Tutora UK taking home the prize.  Both businesses now progress to the Grand Final and we wish them both the very best of luck.

Although we were slightly disappointed not to have progressed to the Grand Final, it was still a great experience and a fantastic opportunity to perfect our pitch, get some exposure to potential investors and connect with a number of likeminded businesses and entrepreneurs in the technology sector.  We were pleased to get some really positive feedback on the business concept and the event has thrown up a number of interesting opportunities to follow up on.

All in all a fantastic week and we look forward to seeing what the coming weeks have to offer!
